Death House
The Dead Singer Sensory Depravation performances (aka Death House) at the foundry in May of this year, expanded upon ideas that have informed the band since it's inception. The main of which; ‘underexposure versus saturation' was brought to it's natural conclusion by having the band locked within a 'vault', separated from the audience, who themselves were left to roam in the dark with just the band's music for(dis)orientation!

Between performances, a 5-way audio installation echoed throughout the audience room and cell. Each of the four corners represented a member Dead Singer through non-music audio they prepared individually and in secret. Only at the vault did the group hear the final cacophony. The last speaker tower was locked in the cell. It let out a slow throbbing sub-bass frequency that made some feel queasy.

The excitement for the band was that they were now in an environment in which they found themselves 'faceless' as well as 'voiceless’.

In an age where self promotion is an ever increasing necessity; a billion faces disappearing into the morass of bland, user-friendly images whilst in the pursuit of recognition, the purpose of these shows became clear:

to withdraw is to revolt...NOW SHOW YOURSELVES!

Dead Singer - Live on Resonance 104.4FM

Broadcast earlier this summer, the band performed 'Finger' in the dark as part of The Late Late Breakfast Show; a show that showcases the unusual and unspoken side of the Arts whilst supplying streams of alternative news that don't get through the usual banal ring of media mafia. Archive shows are occasionally refreshed and are available for free download at the Foundry.tv site. The show also featured the ethereal Lol Coxhill.
